Last Updated: July 24, 2025
[Your Company Name] ("Codetape", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website, VS Code extension, and services (collectively, the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
We collect information that is necessary to provide and improve our Service.
- Account Information: When you register, we collect your email address and, if you sign up via GitHub, your name and GitHub username. This information is managed through our authentication provider, Supabase.
- User Content: We collect and store the video and audio recordings, AI-generated summaries, and transcripts you create ("User Content"). This content is treated as your private data.
- Usage Data: We may collect non-personally identifiable information about how you interact with our Service (e.g., features used, session duration) to help us improve user experience.
- Payment Information: We do not collect or store your payment card details. This is handled exclusively by our payment processor, Polar.sh. We only receive a token or confirmation that a payment has been made.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:

- Process and manage your subscription.
- Communicate with you, including responding to support requests and sending service-related updates.
- Improve and personalize the Service.
- Monitor and prevent security issues and fraudulent activity.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with trusted third-party service providers (sub-processors) who perform services on our behalf. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and are prohibited from using it for any other purpose.
Our key sub-processors include:
- Supabase: For our database, authentication, and backend infrastructure.
- Vercel: For hosting our web application.

We may also disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
4. Data Security
We take the security of your data seriously. We rely on the industry-standard security measures of our infrastructure partners (like Supabase and Bunny.net) to protect your information. This includes measures like encryption of data at rest and in transit.
While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
5. Data Retention
We will retain your User Content as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service, subject to the retention limits of your chosen plan. We may retain other account information for a longer period as required by our legal and accounting obligations.
6. Your Data Rights (GDPR)
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain data protection rights, including the right to access, correct, update, or request deletion of your personal information. You can manage some of this information directly within your account settings or by contacting us.
7. International Data Transfers
Your information, including personal data, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ.
Our use of global service providers like Supabase and Vercel means that your data is stored in secure, geographically distributed data centers.
